NitroScope will take part in the upcoming EU Green Week Partner Event “Digital innovations for soil health”, which will be held online on 3 June 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.
The event brings together four European projects, WHEATWATCHER, STELLA, E SPF digit and NitroScope, to share different approaches to digital tools, soil monitoring, sustainable agriculture and innovation for soil health.
Organised in the context of EU Green Week 2026, the webinar connects with this year’s wider theme, “Investing in nature, rewarding for people and business.”
Digital innovation for healthier soils
Soil health depends on many processes that are often difficult to observe directly in the field. Digital technologies can help make these processes more visible by collecting, analysing and interpreting data related to soil conditions, crop performance and environmental changes.
Through sensing systems, digital platforms and monitoring tools, researchers and practitioners can better understand what is happening in the soil and how agricultural practices can be improved.
The webinar will highlight how European projects are using digital innovation to support healthier soils, more informed decision making and more sustainable farming systems.
Event agenda
The webinar will include presentations from four projects working on digital innovation and soil health.
WHEATWATCHER project
Potential of proximal soil sensing for fertility zone delineation in wheat fields
Speaker: Antonios Morellos, Ghent University, Scientific Project Manager WHEATWATCHER project
Time: 10:00 to 10:15 CET
STELLA project
STELLA, sustainable and data driven agriculture
Speaker: Christina Markou, Agricultural University of Athens, Leader of WP3, STELLA Platform
Time: 10:15 to 10:30 CET
E SPF digit project
E SPF Digital innovations for soil health: what stakeholders tell us
Speaker: Rita Barros Silva, APEMETA, Leader of WP1, E SPFdigit framework design specifications and requirements under social inclusion
Time: 10:30 to 10:45 CET
NitroScope project
UGent Multi Sensor Platform for High Resolution Soil Sensing: 2026 Field Campaign Insights
Speaker: Muhammad Qaswar, Ghent University, Scientific Project Manager, NitroScope project
Time: 10:45 to 11:00 CET
The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session from 11:00 to 11:30 CET, giving participants the opportunity to engage with the speakers and discuss how digital innovation can support healthier soils and more sustainable agricultural systems.
Why this matters
Healthy soils are essential for resilient agriculture, food production and climate action. At the same time, managing nutrients efficiently remains one of the major challenges for European farming systems.
For NitroScope, digital soil sensing plays an important role in improving how nitrogen related processes are monitored and understood. Better data can support better models, and better models can help farmers, researchers and policymakers make more informed decisions.
The participation of NitroScope in this EU Green Week Partner Event highlights the value of collaboration between projects that are working toward a common goal: healthier soils and more sustainable agriculture across Europe.
