Agroscope

About

AGS, Switzerland’s agricultural research center, contributes with two teams: one on precision nitrogen management and conservation strategies, and the other on nitrogen flow models for water protection. They also develop remote sensing methods for agri-environmental monitoring, with AGS serving as a pilot site.

Role in the project

Agroscope contributes to NitroScope through its expertise in agricultural systems research, nitrogen cycling and greenhouse gas monitoring under Alpine and temperate conditions. Within WP3, Agroscope supports data collection at regional, intensive and pilot sites in Switzerland, providing high-quality measurements on soil nitrogen dynamics, crop performance and N₂O emissions.

Agroscope also plays a key role in the Swiss pilot site, where it supports the testing and evaluation of improved nitrogen management strategies in cereal systems. In addition, it contributes to the calibration and validation of nitrogen flux models, strengthening the scientific basis for region-specific emission factors and robust nitrogen budget assessments.
